Electro-Mech Introduces Miniature Bi-Color LED Switch with Third Color Illumination for Emergency Communications

September 19,2001 -  Electro-Mech Components has introduced a new miniature Bi-Color LED Switch featuring a single display capable of multi-color indication. With a lens diameter of only 0.23�h and a switch housing diameter of only 0.54�h, the SW43745 Series is ideally suited for hand-held communication devices such as emergency help devices as well as a wide range of other applications including emergency displays, industrial and avionics displays, or any application where a bi-color LED is required. Designed with a non-replaceable bi-color LED that illuminates red, green or yellow, the illuminated momentary switch features a frosted clear cover lens with conical interior to focus light output.

The SW43745 LED Switch offers increased signaling effectiveness by allowing the user to remotely signal different status signal colors based upon current flow to the LED circuit, whereas previously the signal device was limited to one color.  In emergency applications, the user pushes the button once to activate the LED to red, then pushes a second time and continues to depress the button for a full second to activate the LED to yellow.  The LED turns green when police or the answering party signals back, indicating that the call signal was received and that emergency response has been activated.

The compact switch requires a 3/8�h diameter mounting hole and mounts to the front panel with a 3/8�h hex nut, internal tooth lockwasher and 3/8�h round dress nut.  Weighing only 4 grams (approx.), the unit features an operating pressure of 8 oz. (�}4 oz), plunger travel of 0.100 (approx.) and 100,000 actuations minimum.  Interconnection is provided by PC pins for socket, harness, or PCB mounting, or is available with 24�h long, 22 AWG color-coded leadwires.  The SW43745 switch provides SPST, N.O. momentary switching function, 30VDC or 125 VAC, 2 amps resistive, 0.5 amp inductive.  Unit pricing is $9.90 each at 1,000 pieces with delivery of 8 weeks ARO.  Complete specifications are available on request.  Custom configurations are also available.
